Gmetal Bending Service

CNC bending is a specific process in CNC machining that involves the use of computer-controlled machines to bend sheet metal or other materials into specific shapes or angles. CNC bending is commonly used in various industries, including manufacturing, construction, automotive, and electronics, for the production of components and structures that require precise bending operations.

Bending is a way used to bend or form the flat sheet to the designed shapes. As sheet metal parts, the CNC press brake is the machine to take care of the bending for steel sheets and stainless steel sheets based on the drawings. Gmetal is equipped with 8 CNC bending machines from 60 tons to 200 tons, we are able to bend or form different materials.

The Process of Gmetal CNC Bending

  1. Design the CAD model: First use CAD to design a 2D or 3D model of the bendable part and specify the bend size and angle.
  2. CAD to CAM conversion: Use CAM software to generate CNC programs to control the bending machine during the bending process.
  3. Material preparation: Prepare the required materials and place them on the workbench of the CNC bending machine. The size of the material should match the size of the part and the bending capacity of the bending machine.
  4. Tool selection: Select the appropriate bending tool according to the part design and material thickness.
  5. Program loading and machine preparation: Load the CNC program generated in the CAM software into the control system of the bending machine. The operator verifies and selects the correct program for the specific part to be bent. Then, prepare the machine for bending by positioning the back gauge and adjusting other machine settings as needed.
  6. Bending process: The CNC control system operates the machine according to the instructions in the program. The bending tool (punch) is lowered towards the material while it is held firmly against the die. The punch presses the material into the die, forming the desired curved shape.
  7. Bending sequence and forming: For parts with multiple bends or complex shapes, the CNC program specifies the bending sequence and forming operations. The machine performs bends in a predetermined sequence, manipulating the material to obtain the desired shape.
  8. Measurement and quality control: Throughout the bending process, machines may be equipped with sensors or gauges to measure bend angles and dimensions.
  9. Unloading and post-bending operations: After the bending process is complete, the CNC press brake will unload the bent part from the machine’s work surface or backgauge. Post-bending operations such as deburring or overmolding can be performed as required.
