Foundation Bolts: Diversity and Utilization

Foundation bolts are employed across various sectors, notably in the creation of pre-engineered structures, anchoring hefty machinery to bases, and general construction tasks. These bolts find additional usage in industries engaged with petrochemicals, sugar production, and consumer goods manufacturing. Predominantly crafted for industrial use, they are constructed from robust materials like stainless steel or carbon steel. Nonetheless, at Gulian, we provide the flexibility to craft foundation bolts from any specified material.

Selecting the right type of foundation bolt hinges on several aspects, including the machinery’s dimensions and the anticipated stresses it must endure.

SETTING FOUNDATION BOLTS – THE PROCEDURE

Typically, foundation bolts are set into concrete floors as follows:

Initially, the bolt positions are marked. Precisely measured pits are then excavated. The bolts are positioned within these pits, followed by the pouring of concrete around them. After the concrete solidifies, the supports are removed, and the machinery is installed.

VARIETIES OF FOUNDATION BOLTS

EYE FOUNDATION BOLT

This type features a looped end with a transverse pin, enhancing the bolt’s utility in securing industrial cables against dynamic forces and environmental factors.

L/J FOUNDATION BOLT

Optimal for anchoring substantial support structures, these bolts are typically utilized in the construction of electrical and telecommunications towers and are available in multiple stainless steel grades to meet strength requirements.

BENT FOUNDATION BOLT

Characterized by a distinct bend at one end, these bolts can be embedded into concrete or stone foundations, initially set with lead to ensure a secure hold.

RAG FOUNDATION BOLT

Distinguished by a tapered, grooved body with a rectangular profile, rag bolts require a lead setting before being fully embedded in concrete for optimal stability.

LEWIS FOUNDATION BOLT

Uniquely designed for the manipulation and transportation of large stone blocks, these bolts taper on one side and feature keys for easy removal post-installation.

COTTER FOUNDATION BOLT

Specifically for securing heavy machinery, this bolt type includes a slot for cotter pin insertion, enhancing the fastening mechanism.

PLATE TYPE FOUNDATION BOLT

Favored in construction, this bolt type incorporates a plate at one end and robust threading on the other, ensuring strong attachments.
